New 30 zones and bollards: hard line on road safety

The Municipality of Latina has ordered the construction of seven raised pedestrian crossings and three new speed reducers in different areas of the city. The official announcement arrived in the last few hours through an ordinance signed by the architect Daniela Prandi, director of the service.
The interventions will be carried out in some of the streets considered most at risk. «The measure – explained councilor Gianluca Di Cocco – is aimed at guaranteeing the safety of pedestrians and in particular of vulnerable road users, children, elderly people and people with disabilities. It is a response to numerous reports of conditions of risk to public safety received by the offices and verified by them through timely inspections.”

“A thirty kilometer per hour limit will be established near raised pedestrian crossings and speed bumps,” specified councilor Di Cocco.

Specifically, the seven raised pedestrian crossings will be built: two in Viale Pier Luigi da Palestrina, at the intersections with Via Geminiani and Largo Cavalli, to replace pre-existing crossings; three in viale a Le Corbusier, one of which near the intersection with via Bruxelles, five meters before the existing passage, another at number 393, replacing the existing passage, and the third at the entrance to the area of parking, always replacing the existing passage; one in via San Francesco, at number 71 near the entrance to the “Il Marsupio” nursery school; one in via della Stazione, at the intersection with via Socrate, twenty meters before the existing passage.
