The province of Pavia has considerable tourism potential, but the territory is among the last at a regional level in terms of flows and presence of accommodation facilities, with a contribution to the regional GDP which is only 3.9%, far from the Lombard figure and the national one which stands at 13%. Reaching 13% would translate into approximately one billion euros more in GDP for the province compared to a provincial GDP of approximately 13 billion.

“The Pavia Chamber of Commerce – comments the extraordinary commissioner Giovanni Merlino – is firmly committed to supporting and promoting tourism, a sector in which the territory has many distinctive skills that are not fully exploited today, working in synergy with all the institutional and private individuals involved to make our province a destination of excellence recognized at a national and international level. We strongly believe that this sector can have a substantial impact on the wealth that the territory is able to produce annually”. Paviasviluppo coordinated the participation in the International Tourism Exchange in Milan, in Vinitaly 2024 where 30 producers were present and in the “Oltrepò wine Experience”. Then it was Cibus’s turn. And there was no shortage of guided tours with the participation of 200 people from Pavia. To define a shared tourism strategy, on Wednesday the regional councilor for tourism Barbara Mazzali will meet the institutions, trade associations and stakeholders. The objective is to enhance the excellence of Pavia through the “Lombardia Style” brand with a brochure to collect, the creation of a docu-film and a series of gadgets.
