Francesco Antonio Guglielmucci he was from Matera. Riccardo Latino he was originally from Matino, in the province of Lecce. A non-commissioned officer and a pilot officer: the first was 44 years old and the second only 29. Both were Air Force soldiers based in Gioia del Colle, in the province of Bari. They died this morning due to an accident in Grosseto, near of the military airport home to the Fourth Fighter Wing. Four others are injured, also on duty at the “Antonio Ramirez” airport in Gioia del Colle, one of the Air Defense Wings of the Italian Air Force.
The first marshal with a passion for athletics

One of the latest posts shared by Latino is from the Air Force page: it is titled “A dream come true” and tells the emotions of 48 new pilots in Piazza Duomo in Lecce. A passionate student, he finished his studies at the Polytechnic of Milan in 2018as can be seen from a photo published on Facebook in which, in the company of his family, he is wearing the laurel wreath.
In Tuscany for an exercise
Both had left the 36th Gioia wing and were on a mission in Tuscany for an exercise. And, from the first reconstructions, it would seem that Latino, alone in the car, was returning towards Marina di Grosseto to retrieve something from his accommodation at the officers’ club of the Fourth Wing base. Many remembered the military, starting with Defense Minister Guido Crosetto. But also numerous friends and family, shocked by the incident: «Because in this period only bad news arrives. Why?”, we read in a comment on social media. And again: «Blue skies guys. A big hug to the families, we are close to you in this difficult moment.”
