Since Daniele Martini resigned at the end of January 2022, the position of general manager of Cesena has remained vacant. The functions were carried out in part by the general secretary, Marco Valentini, all the technical management remained on the shoulders of Massimo Agostini and the sporting director, at this moment therefore on those of Fabio artigianato. Now, however, there is a strong candidate who seems truly destined to take possession of that desk: Corrado Di Taranto, current general director of Spal, should become Cesena’s first manager, even if the waiting time may not be very short. From Taranto he has a degree in Economics and Business Management Sciences, he has a specific preparation therefore, he was general secretary of Chievo, operational director of Parma and finally before arriving in Ferrara he worked as general director of Trento. Prepared, already expert in the role, knowledgeable of the mechanisms that govern the management of a sports club, Di Taranto’s profile is truly ideal but he is linked to Spal by a contract that will expire in 2025 and moreover at the moment he is in fact the real driving force of the Ferrara company. To be clearer, the ownership of Spal, like that of Cesena, is American, the owner of the white and blues is known to be Joe Tacopina, a very important lawyer who carries out his activity in the United States and therefore has very little presence in the city of Este. It follows that at the moment the person who is actually managing Spal is Di Taranto himself. There was contact between Cesena and Di Taranto, the manager seems to have expressed satisfaction with the destination on the banks of the Savio, however there is no shortage of buts; Meanwhile, not only are Cesena targeting the Spal manager who apparently has other admirers in Serie B, but certainly the biggest obstacle remains the existing contract which still binds him to the Este team for another year. Di Taranto is not the only one to have several admirers. In fact, other clubs are focusing their sights on the coach chosen by the sporting director artigianato for the post-Tuscan career, with whom, among other things, a consensual termination of the contract has not yet been reached. Arctic has chosen former Lecce player Roberto D’Aversa a few days ago. The two have spoken but are expected to meet between today and tomorrow to define the agreement. But, in the last few hours, D’Aversa has also been linked to Bari and beyond. Even Venezia included him on the short list for the bench. The orange-greens think of him as post Vanoli, now close to moving to Turin. In short, the road that leads to D’Aversa could get complicated. All that remains is to wait. Still.
