Olbia. Seatbelts fastened, a careful look at the instruments and then off you go at full throttle. These are the same moves performed year-round in the school’s flight simulator. This time, however, directly on board a plane. A unique experience for fourth and fifth grade students of the Aeronautical Institute Deffenu of Olbia directed by Stefano Stacca. At the initiative of the teacher Luca Alterawhich teaches Air Navigation Sciences, the children were given the opportunity to put into practice the techniques tested at Flight simulator.

Thanks to an agreement between Deffenu and theSan Teodoro airfieldthe students accompanied by professors Altera, Zaffarano, Zirolia and Taras received all the instructions from the instructor Salvatore Biddauwhich led them to undertake a complete flight lasting half an hour in a two-seater high-wing aircraft Savannah. We start from the conduction on the runway and then take off with the bow to the south, leveling and cruising up to Posadamaneuvers and then U-turn towards Tavolara for a series of developments on the archipelago and on some of the most beautiful coasts of northern Sardinia. Finally return and landing.

The students deepened their knowledge of engines with the mechanic Gion Loi and the extraordinary presence of Herman Flores, global manager of Dynon Avionics. It was essential to emphasize care and maintenance of the aircraft, starting from cleaning the propeller to operate in absolute safety. The initiative completes a series of themed activities already carried out this year, such as visits to the military base of Decimomannuat Army Aviation Base A Elmas and at the airport Costa Smeralda of Olbia, both inside the offices Geasar than in the control tower.
