Lawn alarm at the newly inaugurated “Aldo Moro” park

MESSINA – A 12,000m2 green lung, on Viale Regina Margherita, which the city has never enjoyed and which is finally here. But there is an alarm about the conditions of the lawn in the “Aldo Moro” park. Yesterday on Facebook a post by former mayoral candidate Salvatore Totaro attracted attention just ten days after the inauguration.

Totaro wrote (photo from his Facebook page), today in the centre-right area: “The whole park on which the lawn has unrolled and the uncovered lateral areas are covered and filled with waste and inert material which does not allow drainage and growth of any plant. And the same happened in the Paradiso car park. Check everyone and cry for our wasted money.”

Now the priority is for the municipal administration, councilor Caminiti and Messina Servizi to intervene immediately, detecting what didn’t work and immediately taking action. The checks are underway and everyone is aware that the “Aldo Moro” park is a jewel that we can no longer afford to lose.

Inspection with councilor Caminiti

In any case, an inspection with the councilor is scheduled for Tuesday but it transpires from Palazzo Zanca that the lawn was placed on 26 January 2024 and there are no structural problems.

While waiting for the necessary bathrooms and refreshment point, the structure, managed by Messina Social City, must be protected to the maximum. And it is open from 8am to 8pm and from 9am to 9pm in the summer.
