tomorrow the sun will return, but on Tuesday it will rain. Why is the weather in Piedmont so unstable?

PIEDMONT – Tomorrow (Monday 3 June) the sun should return to a good part of Piedmont, but it will only be a parenthesis, because on Tuesday it will start to rain again. This rapid change in conditions is due to a disturbance that is gravitating between France and Spain.

Why this instability?

According to Arpa Piemonte’s weather forecasts issued today (2 June), a vast depression area continues to remain in central Europe, within which a low altitude moves from the Gulf of Lion (between France and Spain) to the upper Tyrrhenian Sea, leading to an increase in instability in Piedmont”.

In other words, there is a low pressure area (associated with unstable weather) that gravitates beyond the Alps and which, oscillating, causes rapid changes in the Piedmontese skies. The satellite image with the evolution of rainfall over our region is available here on Metdesk.

Forecasts

Tomorrow (Monday 3 June) there will be a temporary improvement in the weather, with showers or thunderstorms mainly confined to the hills of northern Piedmont, in Biella and in Verbano. Temperatures in the afternoon will fluctuate between 20 and 25 degrees.

Tuesday instead the rain will return across the entire region, with clear spells only in the Asti and Alessandria areas. Temperatures no higher than 22 degrees in the Turin area and in the mountain areas will drop to 12 degrees (in the Cuneo area).

It will go better Wednesdaywhen according to Arpa Piemonte “the expansion of an Atlantic anticyclone over the western Mediterranean will guarantee a rise in pressure values and more stable conditions, with a sharp increase in temperatures and the freezing point, which will reach 4000 m”.
