Dr. passed away on Monday morning, July 1st, at the age of 91. Giambattista Negretti, a well-known accountant from Bergamo and a prominent sports manager also at a national level. He died after a short stay at the “Palazzolo” nursing home. Despite his advanced age, he had worked until the end in his studio in Via Garibaldi, which he had always shared with his wife Emanuela, his children Enrico, Roberto, Barbara and his granddaughter Eleonora (Barbara’s daughter, who had just graduated in Economics and Commerce). Negretti, who graduated as an accountant from Vittorio Emanuele II and graduated with full marks in Economics and Commerce from the University of Parma, immediately after graduating entered the firm started by his father, the accountant Attilio, in via Zambianchi. Quickly he acquired profound knowledge in many of the sectors of the profession, from corporate accounting to the tax branch, also publishing several books on economic issues.

Thanks to his profound skills, seriousness and professional scrupulousness, Negretti has been involved several times in some economic initiatives also outside Italy. For years he was an appreciated teacher of Accounting at «Victor Emmanuel II», assistant at the University of Parma, Professor of Economics and Business at the University of Bergamo (as well as the Academy of the Guardia di Finanza), in Football League, also collaborating with about twenty universities around the world. Since 1975 in Panathlon Bergamo, since 2010 in the Bergamo Diabetics Association, for thirty years in Lions Bergamo San Marco, everywhere with roles up to the presidency. Since 1975 right-hand man at the Csi of Bergamo of the president (of the Csi and of Atalanta) senator Daniele Turani. From 1975 to 1979 at Atletica Bergamo, from 1980 president of Celana Basket and then of Orobica Basket. From 1970 to 2001 in Figc (and then in Lega Pro) as a member of the Commission for the verification of the accounting management of companies. Appointed mayor by Figc in the first capital companies in 1967, he was on the Board of Auditors of Atalanta continuously for 56 years (with the share package having changed hands 8 times).
In addition to all this, Negretti has also carried out an equally intense activity in the sports fieldwhich he began in his youth playing as a goalkeeper for «Perugia Calcio». He was also a member of Covisoc (the Supervisory Commission for Sports Clubs).

All of Atalanta remembers him with emotion the extraordinary human and professional qualities that have always distinguished him in his long career and in the role entrusted to him. Everyone will miss his deep knowledge of the administrative problems inherent in the world of sport and football in particular and the precious advice that, with deep wisdom and intelligence, he has always been able to give especially in the most difficult and delicate moments of the life of the company”.

The news of the passing of Dr. Giambattista Negretti has caused deep sorrow not only among friends and acquaintances, but also among those who had the opportunity to know him both in the professional and sports fields. Negretti’s body is laid out in the mortuary of the Palazzolo Nursing Home: the funeral will take place Wednesday, July 3, at 3:00 p.m.in the parish of Sant’Alessandro in Colonna.
