sure-fire thieves, the suspicion of a smuggler and the posts read by the bandits

They knew that for days there had been no one in the fourth-floor apartment in a building in the Monti Parioli area. Perhaps they also knew the identity of the tenants, TV presenter Caterina Balivo and her husband, a financial manager and writer, Guido Maria Brera. What does seem certain, however, is that they knew exactly what to find.: jewels, Rolex watches, designer bags. A loot yet to be officially quantified, which would be around 300 thousand euros, although the couple’s entourage has denied this figure.

The acrobatic thieves up to the fourth floor

However, this was another sure-fire action in the heart of wealthy Rome by a gang of evidently well-informed thieves who may have acted a few nights ago, taking advantage of the fact that the hosts were out of Rome. In particular, as can be seen from social media – where Balivo has published some posts about his holidays (the best restaurants in Barcelona on Instagram) that may not have gone unnoticed even in the circles of acrobat thieves, and from gossip sites – the Neapolitan presenter, formerly a freelance journalist, on Rai of successful programs like «Detto fatto», «Vieni da me» and «La volta buona», she went first to Sardinia and then to Spain. Then she returned to Rome where on Sunday evening she returned home, but finding the door blocked from the inside.

The door locked from the inside and the report to 112

The hypothesis of a mishap or a fault in the lock soon gave way to that of a break-in by thieves, confirmed a few hours later, after reporting to 112 in the middle of the night, by the intervention of the firefighters together with the police. The bandits had in fact blocked the door with a piece of furniture heavy enough to prevent anyone from entering and surprising them while they were robbing the safe, which was found open and empty.

The scientific police inspection

To get to the fourth floor, the thieves, adopting a technique already used in recent weeks in various neighborhoods of the capital, they climbed up the wall of the building until they reached the fourth-floor balcony, where they forced open a French window. It is not clear whether the intruders also tore down a security grate and then the alarm system. The Scientific Police carried out an inspection of the apartment in search of traces and footprints that may have been left by the thieves, as well as the possibility that they may have been filmed by cameras inside the building and along the street.
