The Order of Surgeons and Dentists of the Province of Varese dedicated its annual symposium to prevention as a true recipe for the future. A topical topic introduced by the president of the order, Doctor Giovanna Beretta, who underlined the importance of a “culture of prevention” capable of guaranteeing health care and optimization in the use of healthcare resources.

After the greetings of the mayor Davide Galimberti and professor Giulio Carcano on behalf of the University of Insubria, some experts spoke at the symposium. Doctor Danilo Cereda, Prevention Unit of the General Welfare Directorate of the Lombardy Region, underlined the need for a change in “lifestyles”.

Matteo Franchi (Bicocca University) hypothesized forms of economic incentives to spread prevention. Professor Daniela Lucini (University of Milan) called for a “lifestyle and medicine”, capable of spreading a concept of health regarding the patient’s entire life, moving “from risk factors to lifestyle”.

Representatives of various associations involved in the area on the health front then spoke at the symposium of the Medical Association. Experiences and proposals were brought by Adele Patrini and professor Francesca Rovera for CAOS (Listening Center for Breast Surgery), Ilaria Garofalo and doctor Cristina Romano for Di.Va. (Diabetics Varese), Camillo Antonio Corazzari and professor Battistina Castiglioni for ACRC (Association for care and research in Cardiac Surgery), doctor Giulia Quaglini and doctor Francesco Zaro for Parkinson Insubria Association.
