“I’m leaving, his priority isn’t tennis”

ATHENS (Greece) – Apart from the excellent success on the red clay of Monte Carlo, the first part of the season Stefanos Tsitsipas it wasn’t very convincing. The Greek tennis player has left the Top 10 of the ATP ranking (11th) and is struggling to find continuity, at Roland Garros he was eliminated by Carlos Alcaraz to the quarter-finals in a tournament that saw him very nervous with his corner which will now be renewed. In fact his athletic trainer Christos Fiotakis announced his separation from Tsitsipas.

The motivations

To the SDNA portal Fiotakis explained the reason behind the farewell to the tennis player: “The results and objectives I had set for myself as a coach did not arrive. However, I am satisfied with our work, because we allowed Stefanos to get back on his feet, to be a healthy and competitive athlete at a high level after the injury he suffered last year. However, there are some things that are out of my control: the climate in the team is not right. I hope that at some point he understands that what I tell him is correct and that he can get on the first step of the podium – he adds – We have different priorities. I am not satisfied with Stefanos’ work ethic. I don’t think his main goal is to play tennis, climb to the top of the rankings and win Grand Slams. I can’t travel seven months straight if the goals aren’t ambitious. I have a lot of work at home and I prefer to share my energy with other people in my daily life, trying to make them fitter and get them what they want, without stress”.
