Following the meeting of the Gesualdo community regarding the installation of the FWA antenna, two fundamental aspects emerged which require immediate action, first of all the lack of a PUC with the indication of the state-owned areas to be allocated to the possible installation of this type of infrastructure.
Gesualdo, despite the previous experience of the threat of oil extraction fortunately avoided, in 10 years has not yet adopted environmental and landscape restrictions or a municipal urban plan.
This lack undoubtedly facilitated the start of work on the installation of the SRB antenna for the current FWA.
The No Oil Drilling in Irpinia Committee, which has been involved in environmental issues for over 10 years, denounces a total lack of responsibility on the part of local administrations in the failure to draw up an urban plan that protects the territory.
We believe it is essential to be honest and clear with the community, avoiding raising false hopes about a possible resolution of the antenna problem. Unfortunately, the antenna will be installed and no municipal representative has had the courage to communicate it to the community.
Looking to the future, the only way to prevent further damage to the territory is to plan and organize with a valid urban plan that includes environmental and landscape constraints. Therefore, our Committee firmly requests that the administration engages with the community for the immediate drafting of a municipal urban plan.
This is an urgent appeal and we will not accept any further excuses or delays. The administration has a legal obligation to plan and protect the territory. It is no longer tolerable to suffer attacks from multinationals due to the lack of a valid urban plan. We publicly ask and expect a timely response from the current municipal administration to start the work necessary for the creation of an urban plan.
We await a formal and concrete commitment from the administration for the creation of a municipal urban plan, considering that it is one of the commitments made during the electoral campaign. We will not allow any further delay or prevarication.
