Aprilia will have two new riders in its official MotoGP team in 2025 – Jorge Martín and Marco Bezzecchi. Therefore, only Trackhouse Racing could have riders with experience on the RS-GP if Miguel Oliveira and Raúl Fernández renew their contracts. The CEO of Aprilia Racing, Massimo Rivola, prefers this scenario, even if it is not completely in his hands.
Quoted by the motorsport-total.com website, the Italian clarified that although Aprilia has a certain influence, the final decision lies with Trackhouse: ‘I can’t say much more about this other than the fact that the deal with Trackhouse is structured so that they decide. Of course, we have a say, but the final decision will be made by Davide Brivio [team principal] and Justin Marks [proprietario]’.
If it were only for Rivola, Oliveira and Fernández would remain with the team: ‘Personally, of course, I would like to continue with Oliveira and Raúl Fernández. After all, they were my first choice and I still believe in them‘.
Therefore, considering the need for continuity that will not be present in the official Aprilia team, the executive assured that the objective is to try to keep Oliveira and Fernández: ‘We will try to push the decision in this direction, especially because now that we have replaced both riders in the official team, continuity on the other side would be very important.‘.
Currently, there is speculation about two drivers who could be in contention for Trackhouse Racing – rookie Joe Roberts, who would be an American driver on an American team; and Joan Mir, who if joining from Honda, would work with Davide Brivio again following the success story that led to the 2020 title.
