Paolo Boccardelli is the new Rector of the University

Paolo Boccardelli has been appointed new rector of the Luiss Guido Carli University of Rome. The decision was taken by the university’s Board of Directors following a proposal from president Luigi Gubitosi. Boccardelli will assume the role starting from 26 June 2024 and will lead the university for the three-year period 2024-2027, succeeding Andrea Prencipe, who concluded his second mandate.

Romano, 52 years old, and former Luiss student, Boccardelli he is Full Professor of Economics and Business Management and Business Strategies. Furthermore, he directs the “Franco Fontana” Research Center in Strategic Change at the same university. In the past, he held the role of director of the Luiss Business School. With the appointment of Boccardelli, the Luiss Guido Carli University renews its commitment to academic excellence, ready to face the future challenges of higher education, declared President Gubitosi, who thanked the outgoing rector for the notable results obtained .

Over the last six years, Luiss has maintained teaching and research as fundamental pillars, focusing on innovation and interdisciplinarity. This commitment has allowed the university to climb the international rankings, positioning itself among the top 20 universities in the world for Political and International Studies according to the QS World University Ranking by Subjects 2024 and in 30th place globally for the Master’s Degree in “Management” in Financial Times ranking, compared to 90th place in 2019.

The university has also strengthened ties with its ecosystem, which includes institutional partners, businesses and the alumni network. The relevance of the Faculty is enriched by the participation of managers and professionals from companies, multinationals, law firms and public administration. This direct link with the job market translates into an employment rate of 96% for Luiss graduates within the first twelve months of obtaining their degree.

Who is Paolo Boccardelli

Paolo Boccardelli is Full Professor of Economics and Business Management and Business Strategies. He is director of the “Franco Fontana” Research Center in Strategic Change at Luiss and Co-Director of the Board Academy Program at Luiss Business School. From 2015 to 2022 he was director of the Luiss Business School and Dean for the school’s international development from 2011 to 2015, during which the school obtained Equis, AMBA accreditations and initiated AACSB accreditation. His main research areas include Business Strategies, Resources and Dynamic Capabilities View, and Institution-based View.

Boccardelli is a member of the group of experts from Austriaalian Research Council, the EQUIS Committee and the International Advisory Board of several international universities, including Leeds University Business School, Universidad Pompeu Fabra – Barcelona School of Management and the University of Stavanger School of Business and Law. He is also president of the Scientific Committee of the Lars Magnus Ericsson Foundation. He has held the role of independent member on the boards of directors of UBI Spa and Tim Spa, and is currently an independent director of Banco BPM Spa.
