PESARO – Decline in loans to families and businesses, the risk of a freeze in consumption and more.

«We are very concerned about theyet another drop in loans to families and even more so to companies registered by Bank of Italy in April (latest data available). The decrease in loans to families (of1.2%), will have further consequences on consumption. But it is the data relating to businesses that worries us – underlines Claudio Tarsi, CNA director of Pesaro and Urbino – the heavy decrease in loans to businesses (-3.4%) it is destined to have a notable impact on investments and in turn on employment and the stability of the economy.”

«As we know from our daily discussions with artisans and small entrepreneurs – says Tarsi – they are the ones who suffer from this situation as they are more dependent on bank credit for financing than medium-large companies. After the reversal of the trend of the European Central Bank on interest rates, still too timid in truth – concludes the CNA director – we ask the Italian credit system to avoid the tightenings which risk suffocating much of the productive fabric of our province and of the country. At the same time, it is necessary for banks to immediately pass on better conditions to their customers in light of the ECB’s decisions without wasting any more precious time for the relaunch of the country system. We can no longer afford further hesitation on the part of the credit system.”
