He was defended by the lawyer Roberto Longhini. Who, upon leaving the hearing which took place in the council chamber, said: “Luca Ricci said that he went down to his parents’ apartment at 1:30 in the morning because he wasn’t feeling well. He wanted to measure his blood pressure. He woke up his mother who got up and helped him measure it. But then he talked about a memory lapse explaining that he had returned to his house and gone back to sleep in the room next to the one where his son was, whom he took to school in Pesaro the next morning. When he returned, Luca called his mother and found her dead, cold, in the living room. At that point he alerted the police. We also had to interrupt the hearing for the Luca’s cry, but when it resumed he did not intend to answer the questions, making use of the right not to do so. Thus the judge declared the hearing closed, reserving the right to decide on the request of the PM Maria Letizia Fucci of the precautionary measure in prison, a reserve dissolved in the late morning, ordering the man’s imprisonment.

Lawyer Longhini added outside the courtroom: “In the face of what happened the request will have to be evaluated to subject my client to psychiatric assessment because we have also seen his mental imbalances in the courtroom with memory lapses that are not compatible with the normal mental stability of a person”.
On the investigation front, the Public Prosecutor’s Office is at the search for the motive of the double homicide. The money, exactly 14mila euro, could be the lead to follow. It is the sum agreed by the family, the father Giuseppe, his wife Luisa and his son Luca, with the buyer of their casa purchased at auction for 60 thousand euros. This is a plumber from Fano who agreed, at the request of his son Luca, to leave his parents in their former home but on the condition that they pay 14 thousand euros in advance, equivalent to two years of rent of 580 euros per month.
The buyer, who asks not to appear to avoid his name being associated with the tragedy, says on the phone: “I bought the house at auction and the parents knew about it. I know. Then their son Luca asked me if they could stay on rent and I said yes but after consulting my lawyer we established an advance of two years’ rent. I understand that it is not usual but I ask: how many would rent a house to someone who lost it because they did not pay the mortgage installments? I believe that the positive response would come from few. That morning we were supposed to meet in my lawyer’s office to sign the rental contract and receive the money as a guarantee. Instead, the tragedy happened”.
That very money, which the victims’ son Luca attributed to his father, has actually disappeared or perhaps never existed. It’s a investigative thesis is precisely oriented on this aspect: the money promised by Luca to his parents to stay in the house was not there and would have given him further disappointment after having made him lose the house due to his debts. Unable to bear this, he killed them “so as not to make them suffer”
