Pavia – The red and white tape marks out a space under the balcony and there are several State Police cars with officers engaged in surveys. These are the only clues of the drama which took place in a courtyard in via Cascina Spelta, in the viale Lodi area. In that space, where children are still used to playing as demonstrated by a small bicycle leaning against the wall, a little one of just 18 months of foreign origins he fell from the fourth floor.
It happened shortly after 4pm and we still don’t know how it could have happened. It is unlikely that the child slipped between the railings of the balcony of the apartment on the fourth floor but it is possible that he climbed, perhaps to see other children playing in the courtyard, and lost his balance while flying about 12 metres. The inspections of the investigators late yesterday evening were still underway, leaving out no detail in the hope of shedding light on what at the moment seems like a giallo. The fall is thought to have occurred from the apartment’s balcony, in the part of the back yard closest to the communal garden. Under the balcony, however, there is a sort of concrete sidewalk and then gravel throughout the courtyard. The neighbors are astonished. “They are a very normal family,” they said speaking of the parents. “It’s small, it’s small”others repeated while the child was taken to San Matteo with sirens blaring, given his very serious conditions. A short distance from that red and white ribbon, a couple of hours after the drama, a absolute silenceas if the screams and terror a few meters away had not even been perceived. Life was going on normally with dinner to prepare, while on the other side everyone was worried about a little one who hopefully will make it. The doctors are trying the impossible to make him run in the yard again.
