NewTuscia – VITERBO – Stories of war and solidarity will populate the headquarters of the Voice & Arts Academy association in Via del Teatro Nuovo 20-22 this Sunday at 6.30 pm. Giving them voice and body, the great community actor and narrator Pietro Benedetti will bring to the stage words and facts that occurred between the areas of Acquasanta Terme (Marche) and Valle Castellana (Abruzzo) during the Second World War.
The book from which the show was born, STORIES OF WAR AND SOLIDARITY BETWEEN MARCHE AND ABRUZZO. The memoirs of Cola Giovanni da Collefrattale, a short poem in octave rhyme by Guido De Iulis published by the Ghaleb Editore publishing house of Vetralla, was born from research among the populations of the Castellano torrent valley on the Larga mountains on the border between Marche and Abruzzo, not far from Lazio. The volume is edited by Andrea Martocchia, Fabrizio Amadio, Giuseppe Parlamenti and Pietro Benedetti while the wonderful illustrations are by Silvia Luciani, Stefano Tamburrini, Valeria Colonnella.
The rhyming text presented in this volume has, in a certain sense, three authors. The first is Guido De Iulis, who actually wrote it. The second is Giovanni Cola who “dictated it” or with his stories provided inspiration to De Iulis. The third is Dragutin Ivanović, who discovered it and transcribed it in the 1980s and then spent the rest of his life trying to make it known, as part of his activity of reconstructing the historical events that occurred between the Acquasanta Terme districts (Marche) and Valle Castellana (Abruzzo) during the Second World War. Facts of which he had been a direct witness, or rather protagonist.
An appointment with history and literature with a book dedicated to the memory of all the foreign and Italian partisans who fought in our mountains against Nazi-fascist barbarism and to the mountaineers who welcomed them with such affection as children.
