An environmentalist association can certainly praise a municipal administration for the protection of greenery, for the promotion of initiatives on the subject, perhaps which produce an improvement of the territory. Instead, Legambiente Catania surpasses itself, surpasses even the “great traditions” (of “opposition”) of the Catania left: it does not show you Piazza Federico di Svevia (a piece of the historic city centre) in its urban evolution after the mayor’s decision to pedestrianize it. No, it shows you how many spectators flock to the concert organized by the municipal administration to kick off this propaganda operation (which has long been harshly criticized by members of the city business) of a fanatical administration, an operation called “pedestrianization”.
To our memory, we do not remember anything similar in the past. But, when the Catania left is involved, everything is possible: in short, when boundless cynicism and intellectual dishonesty are brought together, nothing is precluded.
And so, last night you could go to the Facebook profile of Legambiente Catania (not that of the municipality of Catania!) and see – live – the show, with the mayor Trantino (who is progressively ‘buying’ the consensus of pieces of the radical-chic citizen bourgeois) on stage and the usual faces of the “Catanese comedy”. Only the archbishop and the president of Calcio Catania were missing, for the rest the atmosphere of a village festival was all or almost all there.
This is the climate of a city that continues in its tradition of postponing real problems and living on “films”, thanks to the cynicism of a ragtag bourgeoisie (and the decisive contribution of fake oppositions) that has governed it for decades. The effects will not be long in coming. Only a matter of time.
By the way: but when will the hesapartite (Fdi, Fi, Lega, Dc, Mpa, Legambiente) be in government of the city?
