Another school year has come to an end and the balance sheets of all the activities carried out are being drawn up. Once again the De Rossi middle school closes on a high note.

The school year was characterized by multiple activities to guarantee students a broad and educational choice.

All the students carried out multiple educational trips, for example visiting important museums in Rome, such as the GNAM and the Museum of the Early Middle Ages, or visiting important churches in the center of Rome. Furthermore, trips have been planned to attend theatrical performances in prestigious theaters in Rome, in particular the study activity on the opera Turandot, organized by the OPERA DOMANI association, which ended with an engaging participation of the classes first at the final show.

The third grade students then took an educational trip to the Fosse Ardeatine and the Museum of Via Tasso, as a support for the study of history, in the belief that knowledge of the events connected to these emblematic places is essential for the formation of the person.

There was no shortage of school camp experiences; the former spent a sporting day at Circeo; the latter took a trip between Pienza and Arezzo to discover the most significant innovations of the Italian Renaissance; the third-years took part in the traditional school camp at a sports facility near Paestum.

This year too, the school took part in the MEETING WITH THE AUTHOR activity, organized by the De Cultura Association of Velletri, which allowed the former students to meet Manlio Castagna, author of the book Daedalus and Dharma; second year students to meet Pierdomenico Baccalario, author of the book Crimson City’s Big Heist; third graders to meet Walter Veltroni, author of the book The most beautiful in the world. This activity, which has now become traditional for our school, allows children to approach the pleasure of reading in a creative way and to meet the authors of the texts they read, to whom they can ask questions or with whom they can carry out interesting reflections.

On June 1st, the pupils of classes II and III who joined the afternoon theater workshop and who are part of the GIOCHIAMO AL TEATRO company, presented to their parents the show ROMA…CE SEMO, freely based on the musical Rugantino. The show was then repeated on the last two mornings of school for classmates of all classes.

The guys from the scenography workshop created the scenes and objects for the show and then took care of the staging.

The boys of the expressive laboratory prepared texts and choreographies, reworking a reduction of the original text Rugantino, by Garinei and Giovannini, a classic of Italian musical theatre.

The children gave their parents, classmates and teachers a memorable show and demonstrated that the group’s commitment and unity always brings excellent results.

On June 5th, the pupils of the first classes of the theater workshop and who are part of the little company LET’S START PLAYING THEATER performed for their parents, and the following day for their classmates.

In our school the theater workshop is structured in two parts; a first part for sixth grade students is based on preparatory theatrical work and tackles theatrical work in a playful way, giving space to creativity and spontaneity; in the second part, with second and third year students we work on staging a show trying to highlight the peculiarities and talents of each participant, there are in fact scenography and stage setting activities, acting, dance. Even with the summer courses, our students have the opportunity to follow special lessons with theater professionals, who hold courses in theatrical expressiveness and improvisation.

On June 5th the Coro delle Nuvole Bianche also performed accompanied by the De Rossi Pop Band. The boys of the choir, a project now in its second year, performed accompanied by some student musicians who played piano, keyboards, electric and acoustic guitars, ukulele, drums, percussion and electric bass. The children, guided by their teachers, competed with pieces by Pink Floyd, Rem and Ghali.

On day 5, an award ceremony was held for the students who distinguished themselves in the various activities proposed by the school:

  • Lions art competition
  • Trinity Course
  • Artistic literary competition Face to face with …Calvino: The competition, now in its fourth year, is aimed at introducing children to literary texts in a playful and creative way.
  • Sports activities and table tennis
  • Mathematical Games and Greek P day
  • Theater project and choir
  • MINIGUIDE project, a project aimed at studying the artistic emergencies of the territory, this year the Cathedral and the Diocesan Museum. The third year students, who then illustrate the monuments studied to their primary school classmates, distinguished themselves during this activity so much so that they were invited to carry out their guide service to adults during the Camellia festival. This year the project had an interesting twinning with the students of IC Albano who follow the same activity.

During the award ceremony, parents had the opportunity to admire the work carried out by the students in the various educational activities and which were displayed in a splendid exhibition set up on the various floors of the institute.

Appointment at the school year 2024-2025 for new activities and many surprises!
