The Covered Market Terrace new location of Umbria Jazz
The recent signing of an agreement between the Umbria Jazz Foundation and Destinazione Cioccolato SRLSB marks the beginning of a significant collaboration, a few days after the opening of the construction site for the City of Chocolate. This project, destined to occupy the Covered Market of Perugia for the next thirty years, aims to integrate perfectly into the urban and cultural fabric of the city.
Vasco Gargaglia, President of Destinazione Cioccolato Srl SB, declared: “The objective of this free entry initiative is to demonstrate to citizens our intention to create a project that harmonises with the ecosystem of Perugia, supporting events such as Umbria Jazz which have contributed to making the city famous in the world. It will also be an opportunity to present the Chocolate City project to the citizens, which has so far been kept confidential pending the conclusion of the complex bureaucratic process”.
The program of the initiative will see the participation of Sticky Bones, who will perform every day from 12 to 21 July, at 7.30 pm and 10.00 pm, on the Covered Market Terrace. Their performances will offer a swing experience, evoking the atmosphere of the last century.
From 11pm to 2am, several local DJs will liven up the evenings with the Vinyl Groove Selection, including GOOBEE (12 July), BALEARICO SHOWCASE (13 July), JANKY GROOVE (14 July), JAZZY M (15 July), FAB MAYDAY (16 July), DISCO BULLY (July 17), BLACK MEREND’ASS (July 17), BOOGALOO (July 18), QUARTOMONDO (July 19), RICKY L (July 20) and CHISKEE (July 21).
Gian Luca Laurenzi, President of the Umbria Jazz Foundation, stated: “The Market Terrace, recently returned to the city, adds to the festival locations. We hope that the large audience will be able to enjoy the excellent swing of Sticky Bones and a breathtaking view towards Assisi. The terrace finally returns to being a protagonist of the cultural life of our city”.
During the event, a Street Food Court will also be temporarily activated, open from 10.00 to 02.00, located in a space symmetrically opposite the three market activities. This space, which in the spring of 2025 will be transformed into an elegant Bar Cioccolateria, will host Birra Tuborg and Terre della Custodia (official sponsors of Umbria Jazz) and some of the most renowned operators in the area.
