Presidency of the City Council, Mezzacapo in the balance

Arrive at a square while maintaining the balance between the results resulting from the polls and the coalition parties, without forgetting the work done in recent years. The re-election of Gian Luca Zattini saw days of back and forth in Forlì for the composition of the new council which also had to deal with the necessary quotas for women. In fact, former Northern League deputy mayor Daniele Mezzacapo, the most voted on his list, remained outside the team of councillors. Precisely the role to be assigned to Mezzacapo was the object of contention during the recent formation of the council, with Jacopo Morrone who tried to have him join together with Cintorino. To maintain balance, Mezzacapo was proposed by the mayor as the future president of the city council, which will have its first session next Tuesday, July 2, at the Romiti. Looking at the facts, Mezzacapo’s election is not, however, so obvious. As we read in the local press, not everyone within the majority coalition seems to agree with this choice. The presence of two members of the league in key roles would have created various discontent among the members of the lists that obtained equal or superior results from the polls and therefore two councilors, out of six members of the Civica Forlì Cambia, could not vote for him. Furthermore, in order to become president of the city council, the candidate must receive the vote of two-thirds of the council, which would mean having some votes from the opposition. We therefore await the day of the vote to see whether the political dynamics of the “do ut des” will prevail or whether the coalition parties with other names will impose themselves.
