Syracuse won its first outright ACC regular-season title this season and entered the national tournament with a 14-5 record against the second-toughest schedule in the nation. The Orange posted five wins against teams ranked in the top 10 this season.
The at-large invitation marks the 21st NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and the third under the direction of head coach Kayla Treanor. Syracuse has an all-time record of 25-20 in tournament play. The Orange have advanced to Championship Weekend nine times, including last season, and played in the national championship game in 2012, 2014 and 2021.
Stony Brook (17-2) and Niagara (16-3) both earned automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament. The Seawolves won the Colonial Athletic Association championship, while the Purple Eagles won the MAAC title. Syracuse and Stony Brook met earlier this season in the JMA Wireless Dome with the Seawolves recording a 13-12 overtime victory. The Orange leads the all-time series, 5-2. Should Niagara advance, it would be the first meeting between ‘Cuse and the Purple Eagles.
The Orange are one of six ACC teams to make the 2024 tournament field. Syracuse played eight teams that will play in the NCAA Tournament, winning 5-of-10 contests.
Ticket information for the first and second rounds will be announced on Monday.
