Palermo, the wives of the two accused of gang rape: “She provoked them, she teased over the engine”

Two men aged 41 and 44 were arrested on April 15 in Palermo on charges of gang sexual assault. The victim is a Canadian citizen. According to the prosecution, the rape occurred in November 2023 in the B&B where the woman was staying. She, who arrived in Italy to visit her boyfriend who was hospitalized, was allegedly made drunk. There were also traces of cannabis in her body. The doctors at the polyclinic who were treating the boyfriend notified the police, allowing the investigation to begin. But there is not only evidence against the two in the documents. There are also wiretaps of their wives. Who blame the Canadian: “she provoked them.”

The interceptions

According to the reconstruction of Corriere della Sera the woman meets a hospital attendant called Agostino Romano, 44 ​​years old. She asks him for directions to the ward where her boyfriend is hospitalized. After her visit he accompanies her to the B & B where she is staying. The two have dinner together and then go out for a ride on the motorcycle. They meet Giuseppe Romano, the janitor’s cousin. They return to the victim’s room and rape the girl. After the complaint, investigations begin. During which wiretaps were arranged against the wives of the accused. They take it out on the victim: «I’m sure that during the journey she teased him over the engine, which is why he didn’t understand anything anymore. Because the saddle is really small.” And the other: “Yes, he started in the elevator,” she replies, referring to the victim’s alleged provocations.

«She provoked them»

One of the two wives also says: «For me it would be enough just for you to tell me “listen, she touched me in the elevator and I didn’t understand anything anymore”, it would already be enough for me», hypothetically addressing her husband. «’This thing is useless, with all the males there are going to try with him», is another phrase intercepted. And again: «You who are raped, you move, you defend yourself, you bring the meat, you bite. Instead, these guys were clean, not even a scratch”, says one. «And that’s why I didn’t even raise a hand to him», comments the other. «Because I thought: “if I give him a bruise then they’ll say she gave it to him”». While the husband «is now behaving well, he is doing everything. He cleaned, tidied up, organized his daughter’s party and did the shopping.”
