Getting out of the Conservatory’s mold and turning to the city, but also being able to guarantee a moment of leisure and learning to fifty inmates and offering three students an experience in direct contact with the world of detention and in particular with treatment activities. These are the aims of the renewed collaboration project born in 2022 and also proposed for 2024 which links the Franco Vittadini Musical Institute of Pavia to the Pavia prison of Torre del Gallo: which started on Monday 15 April, the course is divided into Jazz singing and Jazz Drums and Percussion in which 25 inmates participate for each course, belonging to the Protected Section; Francesca Ajmar for singing and Giorgio di Tullio are the teachers who go weekly to the Pavia prison to hold the courses, which last two hours. The initiative, which takes the name of “Ensemble Music Courses”, was officially presented on the morning of Tuesday 16 April at the Vittadini Institute: “Today is a happy day – said the president Enzo Fiano -: this project It has a strong inclusive inspiration and opens us up to the community.” Present at the press conference, in addition to the president of Vittadini Fiano, also the director Alessandro Maffei (“It’s a moment of enrichment and openness for everyone”), the director of the Pavia prison Stefania Mussio and the project coordinator Francesca Ajmar; Anna Zucconi, the councilor for Social Services of the Municipality of Pavia, was also present: the councilorship and the diocesan Caritas of Pavia, in fact, will donate a contribution for the purchase of the musical instruments necessary for carrying out the project.
