Steal a car in 25 seconds. It is the new alarming challenge raging on TikTok, carried out by young protagonists, willing to do anything to become popular. At the prospect of a “full” of views, they rage on the roads with Kias and Hyundais produced between 2011 and 2021 in their sights. They exploit a flaw in the system and with lightning speed overcome the security systems created by the manufacturers. Already renamed Kia Boysthe thieves break the window, start the car using a screwdriver and then speed away.
The dangers
Reckless driving style often causes accidents and damage to people and property. Most of the perpetrators are minors, attracted by the challenge and desire for online fame. They put their own safety and that of others at risk, through reckless and illegal maneuvers, which should be condemned a priori. Compared to previous years, the number of thefts recorded by the police has increased and does not seem to be slowing down.
In addition to the material problems, the owners of stolen cars suffer the inconvenience of being left without a means of transport. Repairs can be expensive, especially if the car ends up in an accident. In fact, it happens that you come across items sold at negligible prices, but almost worthless, easily unhinged by those who have a minimum of familiarity.
Some drivers then started using a “block shaft” with alarm or satellite anti-theft devices, able to signal the movement of the car and warn the owner in the presence of an alarm.
