A book on forgiveness, an emotional involvement that is not at all obvious in the latest work of the teacher Gianpaola Costabile, who will present «Per-dono» on Tuesday June 25th to the Sunday Holy Drinkersvico San Domenico Maggiore Naples. The appointment is scheduled for 6.00 pm. Published by Giannini Editore in the brand new series «Novels from the five continents», the book will be presented for the first time in one of the most suggestive of Naples. He will moderate the meeting there journalist and writer Tiuna Notarbartolo.
They will dialogue with the author Giulia Giannini, editorial director of the Giannini EditoreDon Tonino Palmese and the journalist Anna Copertino.
Piera is a police inspector, but she is also the widow of Donato, an escort officer killed together with the magistrate he protected. His wife and one of her daughters die with the magistrate. Patrizia Copertino is a social worker who, together with all of them, never stops fighting against violence of the Camorra and the injustices of the world. He does it with his life partner, an elderly professor with whom he founded the Nest and Together reception and recovery centres. A mix of accomplished, coherent, strong characters who unravel their human stories over the course of a novel with great moral tension and an engaging narrative structure. One theme above all, that of pardon. Forgiveness means not letting anger and suffering decide for us. It is disobeying the pain that asks us for revenge through an act of reconciliation with ourselves and with the surrounding world. A process that foresees and admits the failure of our and others’ actions. In this sense, we like to talk about forgiveness, thinking of it as a gift that we give to ourselves and to others, clearing the poison of certain “toxic” reflections and certain negative experiences from our hearts. In Costabile’s novel there is often lemotion of the meeting, the flutter of wings when we intercept, in the most unthinkable moments of our lives, people of good will. The novel is followed by a section of insights essays dedicated to the theme of forgiveness in its many nuances.
Gianpaola Costabile, high school teacher, graduated in Modern Foreign Languages and Literatures, made her debut by publishing Napulera and Un Borbone per amica for Rogiosi. These are followed by ethical narrative texts: Educare alla legalità., C for Camorra, with a preface by Don Luigi Ciotti, and 70 ma non li prova, on the Italian Constitution. In addition to Compassione, a non-fiction book published by Europa Edizioni, together with Daniela Cirillo you have published The Backpack of Memory (ESI) and Shoah and Stumbling Stones. Many of his stories, selected in various literary contests, are present in various miscellaneous collections.
