Tonight, Wednesday 26 June, the second and highly anticipated episode of the spy-drama DAVOS 1917 will be broadcast for the first time on Canale 5which features the protagonist Dominique Devenport. An enthralling one series, composed of 6 episodes, set in 1917 and inspired by the nurses who served in France during the First World War.
DAVOS 1917: the plot
The nurse returned to Davos after having been busy on the French front Johanna Gabathuler (Dominique Devenport) finds the family in serious financial difficulties. She is then promised in marriage to the wealthy man Thanner (Sven Schelker) and forced by her father to give up for adoption the child born from a love she met at the front. And it’s exactly about this drama which leverages the German countess and spy Ilse von Hausner (Jeanette Hain), That convinces the girl to become a German spy, promising her freedom and a new identity with her daughter. Johanna, therefore, will find herself facing situations that will seriously put her life at risk, but there will also be room for passionate and overwhelming loves.
DAVOS 1917, the second episode airing on Canale 5 tonight
Countess Ilse, who is actually a former maid recruited by the secret services, still manages to keep her identity hidden. The Germans want to meet Lenin to finance the Russian Revolution, as he promised that – once they came to power – the Bolsheviks would withdraw from the war. A situation that would lead Germany to use its resources on the Western Front, thus improving the chances of success against the Triple Entente. Ise, however, does not trust Mangold and orders him to stay away from Johanna. She herself discovers new information: a wanted Swiss officer has stolen a military decoder and wants to sell it to the English. The German secret services want the device at all costs to have a decisive advantage in the war. Ilse and Johanna then develop a strategic plan to recover the decoder before the English.
After the failure of the mission and now aware of too much information, the German secret services decide to take out Johanna and order Ilse to kill her. The woman, however, does not agree and tries to convince her superiors to spare her too. In the background, German maneuvers continue to establish contacts with Lenin and to finance the Russian Revolution. Johanna is tasked with obtaining information from her boyfriend Thanner, who works with a company that develops new devices for heavy artillery.
DAVOS 1917 airs on Channel 5 at 9.40pm.
