An LPG tank on fire and the trail of arson: the discovery of unequivocal traces makes us think. This seems to be the most accredited hypothesis by the police at the station Grottaferratawho are currently investigating a fire that occurred during the night between Thursday and Friday last week in the grounds of the (empty) home of a well-known restaurant owner in the area. A neighbor raised the alarm at the 112 Nue, reporting, with a phone call, the presence of very high flames in via del Tuscolo 10. The incendiary hand apparently went into action in the middle of the night and acted quickly.

The firefighters, with a very long intervention – they remained busy on site until the following day – avoided the explosion of the cylinder, partly buried, by emptying it. The explosion would have blown up the house due to its devastating force.

“The operations were particularly complex – explains Riccardo Ciofi, a trade unionist and firefighter serving at the command in via Genova, in Rome – as we had to work with the NBCR unit on site to ensure all rescue operations. In fact, the fire made the valve unusable for any possible transfer of LPG and the teams had to ensure their presence to prevent the fire from spreading until it was completely extinguished when the gas inside was completely finished”.
