CHIOGGIA – The Tegnùe of Chioggia in the Tentative List to try to become a UNESCO world natural heritage site. The Municipality is trying and, recently, the Councilor for Culture and Deputy Mayor Elena Zennaro has announced that it wants to bring the candidacy proposal to the attention of the Sea Summit, organized by the mayors of the Veneto coast and which will be hosted by San Michele al Tagliamento and Bibione on 11 October. “Chioggia is proud to bring its proposal for the candidacy of the “Le Tegnùe” site to UNESCO within the Sea Summit” – explained the deputy mayor – It is a naturalistic park of which Chioggia is the managing body and we have organized a series of activities precisely to be included in the proposed list of candidate sites for UNESCO. It is a project that we care a lot about because it obviously goes to enhance our territory in the eyes of the whole world, given the ambitious candidacy. It is working hard on terrestrial and marine biodiversity and is therefore making a great effort and involving the entire community”. The site recently came under the control of the Municipality, with the approval of the Region and thanks also to the excellent work done by the “Le Tegnùe di Chioggia” association of the president and sub Piero Mescalchin.
