It comes from the province of Bologna one of the surprises of this second round of municipal in Emilia Romagna: in one of the PD’s strongholds, Castel Maggiore, a municipality of over 18 thousand inhabitants, a candidate from a civic list made up of only young people under 30, beat everyone. This is Luca Vignoli, 27 years old who is officially the new mayor from today.
Who is Luca Vignoli?
Bittersweet ballots for the Bolognese PD, which retains Casalecchio di Reno but loses the red stronghold of Castel Maggiore as well as Pianoro. It is above all the result of Castel Maggiore that makes the noise: here the center-left had always won in the first round, but this time the outgoing councilor Paolo Gurgone was clearly defeated in the run-off by Luca Vignoli, 27 years old, a doctoral student in legal sciences, from the civic list Cose Nuove: a historic association of the town, which has fielded a team of under 30s for which in recent days has also received the endorsement of the singer-songwriter Roberto Vecchioni who, before the vote, had dedicated a video of encouragement which was later distributed on social.
The singer in the video said he was “in love” with this list made up of all young people under 30: “They are clean guys with ideas, with the desire to do and change – says Vecchioni – They believe in it despite the times we live in and when they have talked about what they think, what they want, what they dream, tears came to my eyes, I saw myself as when I was a boy, I was really into these things. I’ll tell you something, after so much lack of love, the emotion has returned to me.”
