Luca Vecchiettini succeeds in the feat

Bologna, 24 June 2024 – The unforeseeable happened at the ballot: the new mayor of Pianoro is Luca Vecchiettini. The historic Democratic fort of Pianoro crumbled under the preferences received from the 19 seats for the pure civic Vecchiettini who thus becomes the new, very young, mayor, thanks (also) to the surprise support of Simonetta Saliera. A script similar to what is also happening in Castel Maggiore.

Casalecchio: Matteo Ruggeri won

The list Pianoro Civicasupported by three other civic groups (Saliera per Pianoro, Enjoy Pianor and Io C’entro – Lelli per Pianoro), dominated with more than 3 thousand votes: 3,925 or 52.08%.

The dem Zuffi was thus defeated with 3,612 preferences (47.92% of the votes).

PIanoro: the new mayor is Luca Vecchiettini

“It’s been a long campaign full of people working together to try to turn the page and move on. Full of people who voluntarily collaborated to put something in the country. Many of our candidates have been doing this for many years. They didn’t improvise or invent themselves. They are prepared people of whom we are proud. Just as we are proud of people like Minghetti who once again put himself at the disposal of his municipality without anything in return – is the bitter comment of Marco Zuffi -. I have never been a fan of politics, I always have been a life mission. Seeing our country go into the hands of people who see politics as a pastime it hurts our conscience. I have never brought family interests into the municipal structure. Never given a job to my relatives, never even worked in the same municipality to avoid having conflicts of interest. Every day I went back and forth for 30 kilometers for have no conflicts of any kind. I sacrificed my best years, those when others went to have fun serving my country, day and night. The citizens of Pianora considered something else. This too is democracy.”

The turnout

In the second round, 52.46% of the people of Pianora voted. A figure lower than that of the first round (66.62%%).

The two challengers

The challenge to second round was between the two candidates Marco Zuffiat the head of a centre-left coalition (formerly belonging to the administration of Franca Filippini) and which on 10 June reached the 45.37%And Luca Vecchiettini, a former Northern League member who is now an under 30 civic member and former opposition councilor in the last term. Vecchiettini had received the very heavy support of Simonetta Salieraformer vice-president of the Region: in the first round he had collected the 36.61% of votes.
