13 fires in a single day

Olbia. Yesterday, Sardinia was the scene of 13 fires, six of which required the intervention of the regional fleet of helicopters to be put out. Below are the details of the main fires:

  • Bottidda – In the “M.giu De Cattoriu” area, the fire was coordinated by the Bono Forestry Corps Station. Two teams from the Forestas Agency of Bono and Burgos, a team of the Fire Brigade and the Barracellare company of Bottidda intervened on site. The helicopter coming from the Anela CFVA base concluded operations at 2.10 pm.

  • Loiri Porto San Paolo – In the “Montiggiu Tundu” area, the Superpuma helicopter of Ala dei Sardi, with a GAUF CFVA team on board, assisted the CFVA patrol of Olbia and a team of volunteers. The operations ended at 1.50pm.

  • Arzana – In the “Monte Sa Onigedda” area, the fire was managed by the Lanusei Forestry Corps Station with the help of the San Cosimo helicopter and a team from the Forestas Agency of Arzana. The operations ended at 1.15pm.

  • Decimomannu – In the “Riu Sesi” area, the intervention was coordinated by the Uta Forestry Corps Station, supported by the Pula helicopter. Two teams of volunteers from Assemini and Uta, a team from the Forestas Agency of Monastir and the barracelli of Uta participated in the operations, which ended at 2.15pm.

  • Arzana – In the “Cumbidarteri” area, another fire required the intervention of the Lanusei Forestry Corps Station and the San Cosimo helicopter. A team from the Forestas Agency of Arzana participated in the shutdown, which ended at 1.15pm.

  • Hussai – In the “Scala ‘e Cannasa” area, the fire was managed by the Seui Forestry Corps Station with the help of the Forestas Agency teams and the helicopters of San Cosimo, Villasalto and Fenosu, with GAUF personnel on board of the CFVA and workers of Forestas. The operations are still ongoing.

The efforts of the rescue teams made it possible to contain the damage, but the situation remains critical and requires maximum alert.
