Total degradation on the beach of Vergine Maria where piles of rubbish have been piled up for days right under the sign that says “do not leave your rubbish on site, keep clean”. Message evidently not received by those who in recent days continue to leave rubbish bags ruining the decorum of the beach of the VII District.

On the beach, however, it is not just the problem of waste: there are cars and motors parked illegally on the beach, there are those who have set up tents as if they were the owners of public land and then there are the street food vendors who they “ruin” the work of the traders in the area.
On the recovery of the Virgin Mary beach, the majority and opposition seem united: “The mayor’s directive is not enough. Decorum must be restored as soon as possible in a city frequented not only by Palermo residents, but also by many tourists.” The beach was supposed to be cleaned up last Monday following directives from the Municipality, but nothing was done. Now the residents are taking matters into their own hands and volunteers are available to clean the beach.
