ASCOLI PICENO – “The work I created is the result of a graphic project. Starting from the investigation of medieval and Renaissance iconographic sources, I offered my personal interpretation with the aim of enhancing decorative themes, lettering and symbols that represent the art of handling banners to the rhythm of drums and clarions.

I would especially like to capture the interest of younger people, using an artistic language inspired by street art. The objective of the image is not to narrate a story but, rather, on the one hand to suggest, evoking the emotions you feel when you admire the aerial dances of the flags, and on the other to celebrate the skills of the flag-wavers which combine coordination, control and sense of rhythm with which they offer a choreographic show.

At the center of the image there is a reference to one of the symbolic monuments of the city of Ascoli Piceno, the ancient “Porta Gemina” or also called “Porta Romana” and the aim is to guide the gaze to immediately grasp the historical references, to let yourself be captured by the color combinations of the signs, including the Italian flag.

The shows of the chivalric tradition represent a cultural heritage to be protected, especially among the new generations, so that, in an octopus style, everything changes so as not to change, that is, the expressive solutions are modified in order to continue telling the story and its meanings”.

With these words the author of the banner that will go to the winning group of the TenzoneAurea2024 combined, scheduled since ‘ presented his work, 5 sketches were received by the FISB Secretariat.
