To deal with the flood emergency that hit our territory in May 2023, the Metropolitan City of Bologna has launched, through the Metropolitan Community Fund, an extraordinary fundraising campaign for the victims of the flood, with the opening of a special dedicated current account.

Many citizens, businesses and various entities, regional and otherwise, who chose to donate: 330 donations for a total of 194,585.86 euros collected in the dedicated current account opened by the “Dare per fare” community fund dal May 22, 2023 to end of February 2024.

These resources were transferred to local authorities as early as August and contributed to providing concrete support to people affected by landslides and flooding in the metropolitan area of Bologna and to providing an emergency response to the needs of those families with greater socio-economic fragility who were unable to independently support the first necessary expenses to restart.

Specifically, a total of 391 contributions were made in the metropolitan area: 108,935.14 euros were allocated to support accommodation costs for families evacuated from their homes, important and urgent expenses to deal with the damage caused to homes damaged by the flood , for a total of 323 contributions, integrating the ordinances of the President of the Emilia-Romagna Region and the Civil Protection. The remaining ones 63,199.85 euros are instead the resources provided to 68 subjects through the Territorial Social Service for the most serious situations of fragility.

Since his departure in 2020, – he underlines Sarah Accorsimetropolitan councilor – the Community Fund has been able to respond promptly to the needs of people and the metropolitan community. The Fund’s resources, in fact, are redistributed in an equal manner throughout the metropolitan area thanks to the good functioning of the technical-political coordination that, when faced with an emergency, is able to quickly gather needs, diversify possible solutions, distribute resources to give substance to those solutions. This was also the case with the flood. In a week a specific line for donations was activated, in a month the needs of the territories were gathered and less than two months after the flood, the affected territories already knew what resources were intended for them. This ability and speed in helping those in need are for the Metropolitan City the most strategic pact of trust towards those who donate to the Fund”.
