SOGLIANO CAVOUR – Blood on the streets of Salento: a woman dying, her husband is in serious condition in hospital. It happened late yesterday evening, around 11pm, along the provincial road that connects Cutrofiano to Corigliano d’Otranto, near the area of Sogliano Cavour. A violent impact, the circumstances of which are still being investigated, occurred between three cars: the couple was traveling in one of these. In fact, in addition to an Audi A3 and a Fiat Punto, Smart was also involved.
In the force of the impact, the woman would have been thrown from the passenger compartment onto the asphalt. Help was provided immediately by passing motorists and firefighters. The 118 operators arrived on site to provide the first medications. Given the severity of the injuries sustained by the woman and her husband, a desperate race began in the direction of the “Vito Fazzi” hospital in Lecce where the 60-year-old, unfortunately, worsened as the hours passed. The wounds, which are so serious and compromising for the organs, are monitored by doctors. Her husband also remains under observation by the doctors, hospitalized with a reserved prognosis. It will take several hours before the medical staff can comment on the patient’s prognosis and clinical picture.
Nothing particularly serious, however, in the consequences reported by the drivers of the other two cars, which were seized together with the couple’s Smarta, in order to proceed with the investigations into the serious injuries caused by the accident. In fact, the carabinieri from the mobile radio unit of the Gallipoli company arrived on the scene and are still responsible for the reconstruction of what happened, phase by phase, in order to proceed with the attribution of responsibility for the episode.
