ARERA publishes the minimum prices for 2024

Using photovoltaic with dedicated collection is always more convenient. This is demonstrated by the minimum prices released by ARERA for 2024: here is the table

In recent years, there has been a growing awareness towards environmental sustainability, with a significant increase in photovoltaic systems installed. Solar energy represents a clean and sustainable source, because it promotesself-consumption and offers the possibility of reaching theenergy independence.

The Superbonus legislation has further catalyzed interest in photovoltaics, bringing the concept of dedicated withdrawal (RID) to the fore. This service has become fundamental for owners of photovoltaic systems, but what exactly is it? Let’s find out how dedicated collection works and how much it allows you to save by analyzing the minimum prices issued by ARERA.

What is the dedicated GSE withdrawal?

The dedicated withdrawal (RID) represents the compensation that the Energy Services Manager (GSE) pays to the owner of a photovoltaic system for theself-produced but not consumed electricitywhich is fed into the national grid.

The GSE remunerates the producer with a established price for each kWh of energy fed into the grid. In practice, it acts as a buyer and intermediary between the producer and the energy market, offering a significant advantage through guaranteed minimum prices which ensure more stable profitability compared to the volatility of prices on the free market.

Dedicated collection essentially translates into a form of energy sale: thanks to this opportunity, the owner of a photovoltaic system not only benefits from the savings resulting from the self-consumption of the energy produced, but can also obtain a further economic benefit from the sale of excess energy fed into the national network.

Photovoltaic 2024: guaranteed minimum prices

The guaranteed minimum prices were introduced by Arera with resolution no. 34/05, with the aim of guarantee a minimum remuneration, whatever the trend of the electricity market. Every year these prices are updated on the basis of the annual rate of change in consumer prices for families of workers and employees recorded by Istat. For the minimum prices in force starting from 1 January 2024, ARERA informs that:

Based on the data published by Istat, the average annual percentage change in the consumer price index for families of workers and employees in the year 2023 compared to the year 2022 was equal to +5.4%. Therefore, the values of the minimum prices guaranteed for plants powered by renewable sources with nominal electrical power up to 1 MW, in force for the year 2024 according to the criteria established by resolution no. 280/07, are highlighted in the following table:

  • Biogas and biomass, excluding liquid biofuels with the exception of pure traceable vegetable oils pursuant to European regulation CE n. 73/09: up to 2,000,000 kWh at €109.7/MWh
  • Wind power up to 1,500,000 kWh at €58.2/MWh
  • Solar photovoltaic up to 1,500,000 kWh at €46.4/MWh
  • Geothermal up to 1,500,000 kWh at €60.8/MWh
  • Renewables other than the sources listed above up to 1,500,000 kWh at €46.4/MWh
