64% of Italians drink less than 2 liters of water a day Italpress press agency

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – An Italian study recently conducted by YouGov and presented by Liquid IV, a food supplement company born in Los Angeles that develops products designed to increase the absorption of water in our bodies, has highlighted that 96% of Italians recognize the importance of drinking the right amount of water, but only 56% know that it is necessary to drink at least 2 liters of water a day and 64% drink less than the recommended amount.
Six out of ten Italians believe they are not hydrated enough: two out of three Italians (64%) drink less than two liters of water a day; six out of 10 Italians (61%) are actively looking for a solution to drink and hydrate more.
Only 19% of Italians interviewed said they use mineral salts in addition to water on a weekly basis and only 12% drink sports drinks.
According to the Italians interviewed, the main causes of dehydration are: not drinking enough (85% of responses); excessive sweating (61%); warm climate (56%); prolonged physical activity (41%); alcohol consumption (38%).
Liquid IV is the second brand in Unilever’s Health & Wellness portfolio in the United States, and has just arrived in Italy. Launched on the American market in 2012, it is a powdered food supplement, scientifically formulated to increase hydration and help replenish electrolytes lost during physical activity, travel, high temperatures and intense sweating. Electrolytes are essential minerals that, like sodium and potassium, together with carbohydrates increase the absorption of water in our body.
The goal of Liquid IV is to ensure functional hydration. The human body is made up of approximately 60-70% water: every single cell in our body needs water to function at its best. Staying hydrated, not only in the summer season and not only when doing sport, is essential for physical, mental and emotional well-being. It also contains vitamins C, B3, B5, B6 and B12 which contribute to normal energy metabolism. Carbohydrate-electrolyte solutions improve water absorption during exercise. It also contains no artificial colours; does not contain artificial sweeteners; It is vegan and gluten-free.
