The fourth edition of. was presented yesterday morning in the mayor’s offices VinItala, the food and wine event dedicated to wine producers whose vineyards are located in the Itala area. The event will take place from 14 to 16 June, offering three days of tastings of wines from the Monte Scuderi Valley, produced by thirteen different local producers, as well as street food, crafts and popular music.

The presentation was attended by the mayor of Itala, Daniele Laudini, the councilor for Tourism and Entertainment, Carmelo Di Leo, and the professional sommelier Gioele Micali. The highlight of the event will be the masterclass “The path of the Doc Mamertino”, organized by the AIS Taormina section, scheduled for late Saturday afternoon.

This meeting marks the beginning of a project aimed at creating a Wine Route which will connect different production areas of Mamertino, one of the three Messina DOCs. The itinerary will start from the hamlet of Mannello di Itala, passing through Fiumedinisi, skirting the territory of Alì, and continuing towards Monforte San Giorgio and Santa Lucia del Mela. The route will be gradually enriched with rest stations and special signs to provide information on vines, wines and the territory. The participation of the mayor of Messina, Federico Basile, is also expected in this important masterclass.

The VinItala event, whose first edition dates back to 2019, is created thanks to the patronage of the Sicilian Region and the Municipality of Itala, in collaboration with AIS Taormina, the Youth of Itala, the children of the Universal Civil Service, Fenapi and with the precious support of the volunteers of the Anello del Nisi. The tastings will be held at Largo Badia, in front of the Church of SS Pietro and Paolo, dating back to 1092 AD, in the Croce hamlet.
