On Monday 24 June the historic center of Piacenza will be the “stage” of the 16th edition of Gold Cup award, a traditional recognition promoted by the Consortium of PDO Piacenza cured meats and represented by an iconic sculpture. And this time the event takes on an extraordinary character thanks to the passage of the Tour de France in our territory, scheduled for July 1st. The initiative will be divided into three distinct moments: a round table, the award ceremony and a talk show.
THE PRIZE
The winners will be figures of great prestige in the world of cycling: Vincent Nibalione of the best-known Italian athletes, winner of the 2014 Tour de France; Gianni Bugnoformer professional cyclist, two-time world champion; Claudio Chiappuccifamous for his exploits at the Tour de France in the 1990s; Ernest Colnagoan important bicycle manufacturer; Beppe Accounts, sports journalist specializing in cycling; and finally Joseph Martinelli, sports director and former professional cyclist. The ceremony is scheduled for 5.30pm.
ROUND TABLE AND TALK SHOW
The round table will be held at 4.00 pm in the monumental hall of Palazzo Gotico, where some speakers including journalists, athletes, administrators, commentators and commentators will analyze theimpact of the passage of the Tour de France in the Piacenza area. The talk show “I’ll tell you about the tour” will be held in Piazza Cavalli at 7.30pm, giving guests a voice to talk about their experiences at the Tour de France.
