The salvation achieved at the last minute was not enough for Fabio Cannavaro to deserve confirmation as Udinese coach. It didn’t even help to make yourself available to society unconditionally. In fact, Pozzo chose not to renew his relationship with the World Champion and 2006 Ballon d’Or winner. The Campania coach himself announced it through a post on his Instagram page. There was so much bitterness on the part of the defender, who underlined that it was his intention to continue the relationship, given that Friuli and the Friulians had entered his heart. These are his statements:
President Pozzo informed me today of the company’s decision not to continue our professional relationship.
I thank him for the opportunity given to me, and I regret not being able to continue this short but intense journey which in the last month and a half of the championship has led us to accomplish a great and exciting undertaking.
I would like to point out that on my part there would have been the desire to continue this adventure in Friuli, a land that has entered my heart as well as its people, and for this reason I had made myself available to society unconditionally.
I wish the club, the players and the splendid Udinese fans the best successes.
