«Today is World Endometriosis Day, a chronic disease that afflicts millions of women around the world and also in Italy. For various reasons the diagnosis often arrives late, leaving the affected women to fight alone with very serious physical and psychological consequences.” The president of the regional council reminds us of this Gianmarco Medusei. «Endometriosis it affects between 10 and 15% of women of childbearing age and in 30-40% of cases it can cause infertility – adds President Medusei – There are 3 million women in Italy who have received a certain diagnosis of this pathology. The peak occurs between the ages of 25 and 35, but the pathology can also appear in lower age groups. It is essential to reach the diagnosis as early as possible, in order to avoid subsequent surgical interventions which have a significant impact from both a physical and psychological point of view.”
«In 2022 the European guidelines were updated – continues the president – the application of the same in the companies of the Ligurian Health Service is being monitored in order to detect strengths and critical points in order to be able to offer a diagnostic path and therapeutic treatment appropriate to the women suffering from endometriosis.
