Alba volleyball champion Sara Bonifacio welcomed in the Town Hall


ALBA On the morning of Sunday 30 June, the mayor of Alba Alberto Gatto together with the councilor for Sport Davide Tibaldi received the volleyball champion Sara Bonifacio in his office in the Town Hall.

The Italian volleyball player, central defender of Igor Gorgonzola Novara and champion of the Italian national team, was welcomed into the town hall together with her father Ezio and told the mayor about the recent triumph with the National Women’s Volleyball team which won the second Volleyball Nations League, in Bangkok, in Thailand, beating Japan 3-1 last Sunday.

“I thank Sara Bonifacio for her availability and the pleasant visit this morning – says Mayor Alberto Gatto -. The volleyball girls were fantastic, leading Italy to win the second Volleyball Nations League. Furthermore, having a girl from Alba like Sara made the joy even greater. Sara and her teammates give us a beautiful image of sport and Italy. Now we wish Sara to be among the Italians who will participate in the next Olympics in Paris”.

Residing in Alba where she was born on July 3, 1996, Sara Bonifacio in 2005, at the age of nine, began playing in L’Alba Volley where she remained for six seasons. She currently plays in the A1 series as a middle blocker for Igor Gorgonzola Novara.

On 1 May 2019 Sara Bonifacio received the “Star of Merit for Work” awarded to her by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella.
