Training sessions, beach volleyball tournaments, volleyball-themed TikTok contests and meetings with big names in volleyball: it was an intense week experienced by the girls and boys who participated in the Salfep Summer Camp organized by New Volley Academy of Forlì at the Eurocamp of Cesenatico.
A stone’s throw from the sea, the very young athletes were able to spend a week in the company of Fabio Vullo, the setter of the national team who is a generation of ‘phenomena’, and in the volleyball hall of fame, Serena Ortolani, opposite player from Ravenna, who won the championship with the national team. gold in the World Cup and twice crowned European champion and Jurii Panchenko, winner of many Olympic gold and silver titles.
Alessandra Chiadini, Massimiliano Zuppone and Marika Morigi make up the team that for 5 years has been organizing a volleyball themed week at the Eurocamp facility in Cesenatico which has attracted young volleyball players from all over Italy for years. “Not a selection camp – they explain – but an opportunity for young athletes, involved day and night in activities linked to the world of volleyball”. Under the technical direction of Dmitrii Panchenko, fresh from winning the under 19 women’s championship in Romania, around sixty young athletes experienced a true full immersion in the world of volleyball.
Social media also had their part, with the volleyball-themed TikTok contest with Matteo Mazzariello (collaborator of the ‘Pallavolosti brutti’ page) and there was no shortage of the All Star Game, a game demonstration with some local players (Alfonso Bendi , Mirko Catani, Luca Canali, Marco Silvestroni, Riccardo Caselli and others). “New Volley Academy – they explain – has focused for years on trying to give everyone the opportunity to have experiences of this type, not just high level athletes, and marks an attraction for youth sports tourism in the area of Forlì and Cesena, with athletes arriving from many Italian cities and from the most well-known local clubs”.
