the young Magliano da Cantù in Porto Viro

PORTO VIRO (ROVIGO)-After the purchase of Arguelles and the confirmation of Eccher, the Delta Group Porto Viro gets its hands on another valuable piece of the Italian youth national teams: signed spiker Lorenzo Magliano, born in 2005, 201 centimeters tall, last season at Pool Libertas Cantù in Serie A2 Credem Banca.

THE CARREER-

Captain of the Under 20 selection, the 19-year-old athlete from Turin could this summer (the official call-ups have not yet been issued) defend the colors of Italy even in two different events: from 9 to 14 July at the U22 European Championships in Holland and from 26 August to 7 September at the U20 European Championships in Serbia and Greece.

Raised in the nursery of Volley Parella Torino, in 2019 Magliano was picked up by Vero Volley Monza. In his four years with the Brianza he divided his time mainly between the youth sector and Serie B, but also managed to collect several call-ups to the first team. The long-awaited debut in the Super League arrives in 2022/2023, a season which also sees him win the Del Monte Junior League, the Under 20 championship. Last year he moved to Cantù with whom he played his first A2 championship, which ended with a loot personal score of 118 points.

The path with the youth national teams is also full of satisfactions: in 2022 the new purchase of the Delta Group wears the gold medal at the Under 18 European Championships, in 2023 the silver medal at the Wevza Under 20 trophy and at the EYOF Under 19 , to which is added the seventh place finish at the U19 World Championships.

The words of Lorenzo Magliano-

« I chose Delta because everyone spoke highly of it to me, especially my great friend Tommaso Barotto who played here last season. I also know coach Morato well, so I really think that Porto Viro is the right place for me, an excellent launching pad. In this regard I want to thank the company for the opportunity and trust ».

Magliano will be one of the youngest athletes on the Delta Group roster, but he starts from an important base, the experience in A2 gained last year in Cantù:

« It certainly made me understand how high the level is in this category too, and in Italy in general. Above all, I learned to work under pressure and during difficult moments »,

After the “baptism” of last season, Magliano raises the bar in view of the next A2 championship:

« We have a very young roster, there will be no lack of enthusiasm and desire to show that we can do well despite our age ».
