The Giro della Valdera Juniores starts today

Competitive cycling often pedals in Valdera and not just for the Coppa Sabatini or the Giro della Toscana, the Gp Città della Ciliegia in Lari or the Gran Premio Città di Pontedera.

In fact, even the cyclists of the Junior category meet today in Pontedera to take part in the third edition of the Giro della Valdera, three challenging stages which until 23 June will make 150 riders from thirty teams pedal and sweat, two of which come from abroad, the Mexicans of the AR Monex Pro Cycling Team who race under a San Marino license and the Australian boys of the Veleka Team, which however is based in Prague.

The first stage, suitable for sprinters, the 102.8 kilometer Pontedera-Pontedera starts today at 2pm to end on the long straight of Viale De Gasperi, unraveling along a challenging route that will see the runners repeat an initial 8 kilometer circuit three times and a half to then cross S.Gervasio, Colleoli, Palaia, Valdicava, Romito and again S.Gervasio, Colleoli, Palaia, the Provincial Road La Fila and the Colline road to Legoli, Valdicava, Romito, to finally arrive at the finish line in Pontedera around 4.30pm.

Tomorrow the athletes will move to Casciana Terme to compete up to Chianni, a medieval village once disputed between the Bishop of Volterra and the Republic of Pisa, where the finish line is located in Via Castellinese after just over 85 and a half kilometres.

The third and final stage will instead travel along the roads around Terricciola, where the finish line is located at the end of 111 and a half kilometres. The departure is set at La rosa di Terricciola.

The Giro della Valdera is organized by the Una Bici categories Students, Beginners and Very Young People.
