Super Rugby Pacific 2024: here are the finalists

The Super Rugby Pacific title is a affair between the Blues and Chiefs. The two teams, ranked second and fourth respectively in the regular season, brilliantly passed the semi-finals and will compete at Eden Park in Auckland for the grand final of the 2024 edition.

The Blues were the first to qualify for the final round of the championship. In the match against the Brumbies, the group led by Dalton Papali’i made the most of a perfect start, going on to win 34 to 20. The men coached by Vern Cotter will thus play in a final that has been missing since 2022.

The Chiefs, however, prevailed over the Hurricanes 30 to 19, leaving a bad taste in the mouth of the team that had dominated the standings with 12 wins in 14 games and 56 points. Even in Wellington the sprint start (17 to 0 after less than 20 minutes) by Damian McKenzie and his teammates made the difference.

Saturday 22 June will be a New Zealand derby between two teams who haven’t won the title for more than ten years. The Chiefs’ last high score dates back to 2013, while that of the Blues dates back to 2003.
