Four hundred free events including music, theater, dance, cinema and circus arts, for a summer dedicated to leisure and fun: this is the rich program of ‘Le due Bari’, created by the Municipality and the City Department of Culture, presented this morning at Palazzo di Città. The events will cover the neighborhoods of Bari, from the center to the suburbs.

A billboard, now in its third edition, financed in total for over 1.5 million euros and which will cover the summer from July to September between squares, cultural venues and meeting places in the 5 city municipalities. The idea is to ideally unite the center and the suburbs by bringing widespread and free events to the squares, theaters and meeting places of the five Municipalities, with a structured program that includes music, theatre, dance, performing arts, with special attention dedicated to childhood.

“In recent years we have worked to rebuild a cultural community capable of communicating with the entire city,” said Mayor Antonio Decaro. “Le due Bari was born precisely from the desire to create opportunities for widespread and horizontal culture that were accessible everywhere and to everyone. We brought this project to life by relying on the expertise and experience of local cultural operators who, over the years, have been the protagonists of large and small events in all neighborhoods, in the most well-known and most unusual locations, accompanying citizens to discover beauty and culture. Le due Bari has also represented an important policy of social animation, encouraging moments of socialization and presence in the squares and most difficult places.”

“Once again, the Department of Culture is working alongside the Ministry and supporting local cultural operators by promoting a program of live performances with over 400 free events throughout the city, including 250 shows and 161 workshops spread across 35 public places and in the city’s private theaters and cultural spaces,” commented Ines Pierucci, City Councilor for Culture. As part of the strategy of the Department of Culture, since the beginning of this mandate we have wanted to ensure the right to culture through the accessibility and enhancement of all the neighborhoods of Bari according to an approach that has allowed us to rediscover and animate in a cultural way public spaces such as the Mizzi garden and Piazza Vittorio Emanuele in Loseto, the waterfront of San Girolamo, Piazzetta San Nicola and the gardens of Prato Lagemma in Carbonara, Piazzetta Eleonora in San Pio, Parco Princigalli in Mungivacca, Piazza dei Mille and Lungomare Cristoforo Colombo in Santo Spirito, Torre Quetta, Parco Rossani, Parco Maugeri, Parco Gargasole, Orto Gentile, Piazza della Torre in Torre a Mare, Largo Annunziata and Largo Albicocca in Bari Vecchia, Piazza Santa Maria del Campo in Ceglie”.
