Through a series of initiatives, Latina celebrated the 90th anniversary of the city section of the Alpine corps. A day, that of Saturday 29 June, which opened with a parade from Piazza del Popolo and then continued with the inauguration of an exhibition at the city club and with the formalisation, in the council chamber of the Municipality, of a twinning of the Ana section of Latina with the sections of Treviso and Udine.

The mayor Matilde Celentano greeted and thanked the president of the national Alpine association of Latina, the lawyer Francesco Di Leginio, the president of Ana Treviso, Franco Giacomin, and the president of Ana Udine Mauro Ermacora, for having involved the municipal administration in this event. “An initiative that we immediately shared, with conviction and determination, also interpreting the common feeling of our fellow citizens who have always shown esteem and appreciation towards the Alpine Corps”, commented the first citizen.

“We will never forget – added Mayor Celentano – the 82nd National Gathering which was held in Latina. An event, which brought prestige to our city, and which was well attended, as proof of the affection towards the valiant Alpine Corps, defender of sovereignty and national interest, as well as of the ethics of civil participation, solidarity and volunteering. Today marks the 90th anniversary of the National Alpine Association – Latina section. A presence, that of the Alpine troops, which has honored our city since it took its first steps”.

“The twinning, the highlight of this day, is an initiative that aims to strengthen the bond – underlined Celentano again – between our city, its villages, its territory with some of the cities of origin of the pioneers of Littoria, today Latin. The signature that formalizes the twinning will be the beginning of a new test of brotherhood, of cultural exchange in the memory of our roots and in the future projection of changing times, keeping firmly in mind the principles and values spread by the Alpine troops in our nation and in the world ”. After the signing of the twinning agreement, the ceremony concluded with the delivery of numerous certificates of Alpine merit. Mayor Celentano presented a plaque to Nicola Corradetti, historical face of the Latina Alpini, who led the section for 38 years.
